‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’: Congress Intensifies Nationwide Education Campaign

The Congress on Thursday expanded its nationwide ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign by organising press conferences in 28 cities across the country, calling for a comprehensive overhaul of India’s education system.

The campaign, launched by the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi from Kota, Rajasthan, on June 17, seeks to highlight concerns over the state of education in the country.

As part of the initiative, the party has also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that he represents the PM Narendra Modi government’s lack of vision and rigid approach towards education.

Congress General Secretary (Communications) and Member of Parliament Jairam Ramesh said the campaign has resonated with young people across the country. He alleged that repeated examination paper leaks and irregularities have created widespread frustration among students and accused the government of failing to address their concerns.

According to the party, senior Congress leaders addressed media briefings in cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Kota, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Purnia, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sikar, Srinagar, Trivandrum, Vijayawada, Allahabad and Meerut.

The campaign was led by prominent party leaders such as Satej Patil, Varsha Gaikwad, Pawan Khera, Rajeev Shukla, Priyank Kharge, Gaurav Gogoi, Supriya Shrinate, Kanhaiya Kumar, Imran Pratapgarhi and Srinivas BV in their respective regions.

The Congress said the press conferences mark the beginning of a broader national discussion on creating a modern, inclusive and future-ready education system.

The party has invited students, teachers, parents and citizens to participate in the dialogue, stressing that education policies should align with the aspirations and needs of India’s youth.

The initiative forms a key part of the party’s ongoing campaign to bring education reform to the forefront of national political discourse.
