Bharat Express Chairman & Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai held a special conversation with Ayurvedacharya and HIIMS founder Acharya Manish in London.
The discussion covered healthy lifestyle, diet, Panchakarma, acidity, fatty liver, cancer and several other health-related issues.
Acharya Manish said poor daily routines and unhealthy eating habits were causing people to work against their own bodies. He said the human body is not designed to remain ill, but modern lifestyles and dietary habits have increased the risk of several health problems.
Acharya Manish linked lifestyle and dietary habits to conditions affecting the kidneys, heart and liver, as well as diabetes, high blood pressure and joint pain.
Discussing Panchakarma, Acharya Manish said Ayurveda has referred to the practice for thousands of years as a method of cleansing the body. Citing the works of Maharishi Charaka, he identified Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya and Raktamokshana as the five principal Panchakarma procedures.
Acharya Manish claimed that toxins accumulate in the body over time and recommended undergoing Panchakarma every six months. He further said the practice could help people stay protected from diseases.
During the conversation, CMD Upendrra Rai raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of dialysis, blood cancer and acute acidity. He pointed to thyroid and hormonal problems among women, particularly after pregnancy, and asked Acharya Manish about the reasons behind these conditions and affordable approaches to treatment.
Responding to CMD Upendrra Rai’s question about acidity, Acharya Manish suggested consuming a preparation made from roasted small cardamom and cloves. He advised powdering the ingredients and taking a pinch on an empty stomach with warm water.
Acharya Manish claimed that the remedy could provide relief from acidity and said people who had been taking acidity medication for years could eventually stop using it.
These are traditional health claims made by Acharya Manish and should not be considered a substitute for medical advice or prescribed treatment.
CMD Upendrra Rai asked Acharya Manish about ways to address fatty liver.
Acharya Manish suggested combining sugarcane juice with mint, coriander, ginger and lemon. He advised taking the mixture in small quantities and avoiding food for four hours before and after consuming it. He claimed that the practice could reduce fatty liver within one to two months and said it could help in cases of jaundice.
CMD Upendrra Rai asked Acharya Manish about cancer treatment, referring to his elder sister’s cancer and stating that Acharya Manish had helped her recover.
Acharya Manish recommended fasting once every 15 days and suggested a three-day juice-based regimen containing guava, banyan and peepal leaves, betel leaves, mint, coriander, curry leaves, spinach, fenugreek, bathua, raw turmeric and black pepper.
Acharya Manish claimed that following the regimen could enable the body to eliminate cancer and said lumps and tumours could disappear. He made similar claims about lumps inside the uterus and advised women to follow the regimen during their menstrual periods while avoiding roti, rice, milk, curd and paneer. These cancer-related statements are claims made by Acharya Manish.
Cancer patients should seek diagnosis and treatment from qualified oncology professionals and should not replace prescribed cancer treatment with an unproven dietary or Ayurvedic regimen.
During the conversation, Acharya Manish said he was working towards providing health-related services and treatment in London. He emphasised the importance of a healthy lifestyle and promoted Ayurvedic practices as an approach to preventing illness.
CMD Upendrra Rai’s conversation with Acharya Manish covered lifestyle, diet, traditional Ayurvedic practices and several common health concerns.
