US Unveils 15-Point Plan To Curb Iran Nuclear Programme, End Conflict

The United States has put forward an extensive 15-point roadmap designed to bring an end to the conflict and roll back Iran’s nuclear programme.

The proposal, transmitted through diplomatic intermediaries, lays out measures to stop hostilities and redefine Iran’s strategic role in the region.

Under the proposal, Iran would be required to shut down its major nuclear installations located at Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow. It also mandates a complete halt to uranium enrichment and the transfer of all enriched material to international authorities under a fixed schedule.

Tehran would also have to pledge that it will never pursue nuclear weapons. It would additionally be required to grant unrestricted access to inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

A temporary ceasefire lasting one month has been proposed to facilitate dialogue between the two sides.

The framework also seeks to confine Iran’s military capabilities to defensive purposes, with missile-related restrictions to be discussed in subsequent negotiations.

The plan presses Iran to discontinue its backing of proxy groups and stop providing them with financial and military support. It also highlights the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to ensure uninterrupted global trade flows.

In exchange for compliance, the United States has offered to remove all sanctions linked to Iran’s nuclear activities. It has also proposed assistance in developing a monitored civilian nuclear energy programme in Bushehr.

Additionally, the proposal suggests eliminating the “snapback” provision that enables the automatic return of sanctions.

The proposal has been communicated through multiple intermediaries, with Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt playing active roles in facilitating potential talks.

Efforts are continuing to bring both nations closer to formal negotiations.

Persistent Challenges

Despite these diplomatic initiatives, considerable gaps persist between the two sides. Iran continues its regional military actions, while Washington maintains pressure through sanctions and strategic measures.

US President Donald Trump struck an optimistic note, indicating that Iran appears willing to engage in negotiations and may be open to reaching an agreement, even as the conflict enters its fourth week.
