US President Donald Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday, claiming that his administration has reversed economic decline, secured the southern border, and restored American strength both domestically and internationally within his first 11 months in office.
Speaking in Washington, Trump placed responsibility for inflation, migration challenges, and global instability on the prior Democratic administration.
“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” Trump said, highlighting that inflation had reached the worst levels in 48 years, making life unaffordable for millions of Americans.
He criticised the Biden administration for maintaining an open border, describing the situation as an invasion by 25 million people, including criminals and violent offenders, which he vowed ‘can never be allowed to happen again’.
Trump asserted that no illegal immigrants had entered the United States in the past seven months and praised his administration for dramatically improving border security without new legislation.
He claimed that the US was deporting criminals, reducing urban crime, and curbing drug imports, which he said were down 94 per cent from ocean and air routes.
On foreign affairs, Trump declared that he had ‘settled eight wars in ten months’, neutralised the Iranian nuclear threat, ended the conflict in Gaza, and contributed to peace in the Middle East. He also emphasised that the US military is now ‘the most powerful military anywhere in the world’.
Trump highlighted falling prices across key sectors, including cars, gasoline, hotels, and groceries, noting a 33 per cent reduction in Thanksgiving turkey prices and an 82 per cent drop in eggs since March.
He reported wage increases for factory workers ($1,300), construction workers ($1,800), and miners ($3,300), with all new jobs created in the private sector.
Trump also touted a record-breaking $18 trillion investment in the US, driven by tariffs, and claimed his policies had revitalised manufacturing, including artificial intelligence and automobile production.
He underscored historic tax cuts and announced a $1,000 Warrior Dividend for over 1.45 million service members ahead of Christmas.
The president announced reductions in prescription drug prices through a Most Favoured Nation approach and criticised the Affordable Care Act, promising to redirect funds directly to individuals for insurance.
On energy, Trump declared a national emergency, citing gasoline prices under $2.50 per gallon in most areas and new power plant openings to lower electricity costs.
Trump concluded by highlighting declining housing costs, reverse migration easing job and housing pressures, and a renewed respect for America globally.
Looking ahead, he encouraged citizens to see the coming year as the culmination of a national comeback.
