President Trump Reaffirms Ceasefire Claim As Iran Launches New Missile Attack On Israel

Despite fresh missile attacks from Iran, US President Donald Trump doubled down on his claim that both Israel and Iran had independently approached him seeking peace.

His statement came amid escalating confusion and violence, as Tehran and Tel Aviv continue exchanging fire.

President Trump says both Nations requested peace

Posting on his social media platform, Truth Social, the US President asserted that both nations sought a ceasefire through him.

“Israel & Iran came to me, almost simultaneously, and said, ‘peace’! I knew the time was NOW,” President Trump wrote. “The World, and the Middle East, are the real winners!”

He added that both countries stood to gain ‘tremendous love, peace and prosperity’ if they remained committed to the path of ‘righteousness and truth’.

Iran strikes Israel again despite Ceasefire talks

Just hours before Trump’s renewed ceasefire remarks, Iran launched six more ballistic missiles at Israeli targets, violating its own earlier pledge to pause hostilities.

One missile reportedly hit a building in Beersheba, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), prompting Israel’s Home Front Command to urge residents to take cover.

Emergency responders from Magen David Adom were dispatched to the area. No immediate casualties were reported, but damage assessments are ongoing.

Tehran calls ceasefire ‘Conditional’

Earlier in the day, Iranian officials announced a unilateral halt to military operations against Israel, beginning at 4 AM local time.

However, Iran conditioned the ceasefire on Israel halting its offensive operations.

Following Trump’s ceasefire declaration, Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied receiving any formal proposal from the US and insisted that Israel was responsible for initiating the conflict.

“We temporarily paused our strikes,” a ministry spokesperson said. “But that depends entirely on Israeli actions.”

Israel silent on Trump’s declaration

As of Monday night, the Israeli government had not formally responded to Trump’s ceasefire announcement.

With renewed missile fire from Iran and ongoing Israeli defence operations, no indication of mutual de-escalation has emerged.

The war, now in its 12th day, began when Israel launched ‘Operation Rising Lion’, targeting Iranian military and nuclear installations.

Iran retaliated with multiple waves of ballistic missile attacks.

According to preliminary estimates, about 400 people have died in Iran and 24 in Israel since hostilities began.

The conflict widened when the United States conducted airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, drawing Washington directly into the fray.
