US President Donald Trump: Convincing Israel To Halt Iran Strikes ‘Difficult Task’

US President Donald Trump acknowledged that convincing Israel to pause its airstrikes in Iran would be a difficult task, even as his administration seeks a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing tensions between the two nations.

Speaking to reporters at his golf club in New Jersey during a fundraiser, President Trump emphasised that diplomatic efforts remain underway but signalled little optimism about halting Israel’s military campaign.

Local media reported his comments, which the Xinhua news agency also cited.

Dismissing European diplomatic efforts, President Trump remarked, “They didn’t help. Iran doesn’t want to speak to Europe. They want to speak to us. Europe is not going to be able to help on this one.”

Meanwhile, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce refrained from confirming whether the administration would request a ceasefire to facilitate US-Iran nuclear negotiations.

At a press briefing on Friday, Bruce noted, “I’m not going to characterise what’s happening now, or the reaction by the president or the secretary of state to what those negotiations might be.”

Israel conducts large-scale strikes in Iran

On the military front, the Israel Defence Force (IDF) revealed a large-scale air operation targeting Iranian military infrastructure.

According to an official statement, over 35 missile-related facilities were struck by more than 25 Israeli fighter jets in the Kermanshah and Tiberias regions of Iran.

Taking to the social media platform, the IDF in a statement posted, “This morning, the Air Force completed a wave of attacks against military targets of the Iranian regime in areas such as Kermanshah and Tiberias in Iran, with precise intelligence guidance from the Intelligence Branch. As part of the wave of attacks, more than 25 fighter jets attacked more than 35 missile storage and launch facilities in the Tiberias and Kermanshah areas of Iran.”

The IDF stated that Israeli Air Force strikes targeted Iranian missile systems and radar installations near Isfahan and Tehran, positioned to track and engage Israeli aircraft.
