According to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. local time.
The incident involved a SOCATA TBM7 aircraft, which had departed from Des Moines International Airport in Iowa and was en route to Anoka County-Blaine Airport in Minneapolis.
The plane crashed into a home, igniting a fire. Thick smoke poured from the burning house, but fortunately, the flames did not spread to nearby homes.
Local media outlets reported that there were no survivors on board, citing the Brooklyn Park Fire Department.
Firefighters worked to control the blaze, and at least three fire crews were seen battling the flames.
Local authorities confirmed that all neighboring homes were safely evacuated in response to the fire. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz addressed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his gratitude to the first responders.
He stated, “My team is in touch with local officials on the scene in Brooklyn Park, and we are monitoring the situation closely. Grateful to the first responders answering the call.”
Witnesses in the area reported the crash and subsequent fire. Local TV station KARE 11 quoted residents describing how the plane crashed into the house, triggering the blaze.
Fire crews confirmed that no one was present in the home at the time of the fire.
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. An NTSB spokesperson confirmed that investigators are en route to the scene and are expected to arrive the following day.
Once on-site, the investigators will begin documenting the crash site and examining the wreckage. The aircraft will be recovered and taken to a secure facility for further analysis.
