US Issues Urgent Warning; Tells Americans To Leave Venezuela At Once

The United States has urged its citizens to leave Venezuela “immediately”, warning of serious and ongoing security risks across the country.

The US Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs issued the advisory, highlighting concerns over civil unrest, armed groups and threats specifically targeting Americans.

In a post on X, the bureau said that although international flights have resumed, the security situation in Venezuela ‘remains fluid’.

It warned of reports involving armed militias, commonly known as colectivos, setting up roadblocks and searching vehicles for signs of US citizenship or support for the United States.

High-Level Travel Advisory in Place

The bureau reiterated that Venezuela remains under the highest US Travel Advisory classification — Level 4: Do Not Travel.

According to the advisory, Americans face severe risks including wrongful detention, torture in custody, terrorism, kidnapping, violent crime, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, civil unrest and limited access to adequate healthcare.

US citizens in Venezuela have been urged to remain vigilant, exercise caution while travelling, and monitor official updates, according to Xinhua.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions following recent US military action that has further destabilised the country.

President Donald Trump said he may soon meet Venezuelan leaders, signalling possible diplomatic engagement, but US authorities continue to warn that conditions remain dangerous and advise Americans to leave and avoid all travel to Venezuela.
