Ukrainian occupation authorities stated that airstrikes on Russian-held Lugansk and Kherson areas killed 26 people and injured scores more on Friday.
Both Ukrainian regions were among four that Russia claimed to have annexed in September 2022, despite the fact that none of them had been fully controlled during the full-scale military campaign launched that February.
On Telegram, Vladimir Saldo, head of Russian occupation authorities in Kherson, wrote, “A shop in the village of Sadove in the southern Kherson region with a large number of visitors and employees was destroyed”.
Saldo informed that a HIMARS missile struck shortly after, as inhabitants from nearby houses came to help the victims, bringing the total toll to 22 dead and 15 injured.
Saldo criticized the ‘vile murder of civilians’ enabled by Western arms deliveries to Ukraine.
Earlier on Friday, Russian-appointed officials in Lugansk stated that a Ukrainian missile strike on an apartment block in the eastern region’s main city of the same name killed four people and injured more than 40.
