UAE Says Air Defences Intercept Ballistic Missiles And Drones During Iranian Attack

The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that its defence network successfully brought down three incoming ballistic missiles. It also tracked 129 unmanned aerial vehicles.

Out of these drones, 121 were intercepted. The remaining eight came down within national borders.

Officials further disclosed that 189 ballistic missiles aimed at the UAE had been detected since the beginning of the Iranian assault. These missiles were identified over the course of the ongoing attacks.

Of these, 175 were destroyed mid-air, 13 fell into surrounding waters, and one landed inside the country.

In addition, 941 Iranian drones were identified, with 876 neutralised and 65 descending within UAE territory. Eight cruise missiles were also intercepted and eliminated.

The ministry stated, “The attacks caused some collateral damage and resulted in three fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationalities, as well as 78 minor injuries among individuals of Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese and Afghan nationalities.”

People in several parts of the country reported hearing loud blasts as air defence batteries engaged incoming missiles and fighter aircraft targeted drones and cruise missiles.

Authorities confirmed that some civilian installations sustained minor to moderate structural damage during the defensive response.

Describing the strikes as a serious breach of sovereignty and international law, the ministry labelled the assault a clear act of aggression. It called the attacks a blatant violation of international norms.

The ministry stressed that the UAE retains the right to respond proportionately. It added that all necessary measures would be taken to safeguard its territory and population.

Advisory for Residents

Reaffirming its readiness to confront emerging threats, the ministry assured the public that safeguarding national stability remains its highest priority.

Residents were advised to seek updates exclusively from official channels and to avoid spreading unverified information.

The heightened tensions follow coordinated US-Israeli operations targeting Iranian military assets, which triggered retaliatory missile and drone attacks across several parts of West Asia.
