Trump Unveils 20-Point Peace Plan To End Israel-Hamas War In Gaza

US President Trump formally unveiled his 20-point peace plan to end the Gaza war, declaring that Hamas’ acceptance of the proposal will lead to the immediate release of hostages and cessation of hostilities.

Trump urged Hamas to embrace the plan, warning that he would give Israel his ‘full backing’ to neutralise Hamas if the group rejects the offer.

Prime Minister Netanyahu supported the plan, stating that it achieves Israel’s ‘war aims’ while reaffirming that Israel would take decisive action if Hamas refuses to comply.

“It can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way,” Netanyahu declared.

The plan establishes a temporary technocratic government in Gaza, supervised by an international transitional body called the ‘Board of Peace’, chaired by President Trump and including figures such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The agreement prohibits Israel from annexing Gaza and guarantees that it will not displace residents. The plan calls for the return of all captives, alive or deceased, within 72 hours of acceptance.

The plan grants amnesty to Hamas members who commit to peace and offers safe passage abroad to those who do not.

Regional and international forces would maintain security in Gaza and assist in training Palestinian police.

The plan also outlines mechanisms for humanitarian aid and infrastructure redevelopment, managed under the Board of Peace until the Palestinian Authority resumes governance after reforms.

Palestinian Response

Riyad Mansour, head of the Palestine Mission to the United Nations, reaffirmed the Palestinian Authority’s willingness to cooperate with the US, Saudi Arabia, regional actors, European partners, and the international community to achieve peace.

The Gaza war began on 7 October 2023, following a Hamas attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.

Authorities believe that around 48 hostages remain in captivity, with roughly 20 still alive.

The conflict has claimed over 66,000 Palestinian lives and left large parts of Gaza in ruins, intensifying international calls for a resolution.

Trump’s plan represents a major diplomatic effort to resolve one of the most protracted conflicts in the Middle East.

Its success depends on acceptance by Hamas and cooperation from regional and international stakeholders to ensure lasting peace, humanitarian relief, and political stability in Gaza.
