Trump Signals Policy Shift On Iran, Proposes Nuclear Cleanup And Trade Measures

US President Donald Trump declared what he described as a ‘very productive regime change’ in Iran, presenting a revised framework centred on nuclear controls, economic relief, and trade enforcement.

Through multiple posts on Truth Social, Trump stated that the United States intended to collaborate with Iran following recent developments. His statement followed a temporary ceasefire agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump stated that Iran would be prohibited from continuing uranium enrichment, identifying this as a key condition of the new policy. He further noted that the United States would take steps to locate and extract deeply buried nuclear material.

Trump added that the material remains under continuous observation, referencing monitoring by the United States Space Force. He maintained that no changes had occurred since the reported strike.

Talks on Sanctions Relief

At the same time, Trump indicated that discussions aimed at reducing economic restrictions were in progress. He said negotiations concerning tariffs and sanctions relief had advanced, with several elements already agreed, although specifics were not shared.

This signals an approach that combines diplomatic engagement with firm oversight of Iran’s nuclear activities.

Soon after, Trump cautioned that any country providing military assistance to Iran would face immediate economic consequences. He stated that such nations would be subjected to a 50 per cent tariff on all exports to the United States, with no exemptions.

The overall approach highlights a policy that merges incentives with deterrence. By pairing the possibility of sanctions relief with the threat of sweeping tariffs, the United States appears to be pursuing conditional engagement to influence Iran’s strategic direction.
