DC Choose To Field As Gill Returns For GT In IPL 2026 Clash

In the 14th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to field first against Gujarat Titans. The decision reflects DC’s confidence as they target a hat-trick of wins, while GT aim to register their first victory of the campaign.

Delhi Capitals retained the same playing XI for this fixture, signalling trust in their winning combination. In contrast, the Gujarat Titans welcomed back skipper Shubman Gill, who replaced Kumar Kushagra in the line-up, strengthening their batting unit.

After winning the toss at Arun Jaitley Stadium, DC captain Axar Patel said, “We will bowl first. In the last two matches, we have performed well while chasing targets. It’s a fresh wicket. There has been rain, so there might be some moisture in the pitch. We will bowl first, assess the conditions, restrict them to a low total, and then chase it down. We focus on match-ups, try to make things as difficult as possible for the batters, and pick our best bowlers. There are no changes in our team.”

GT skipper Shubman Gill remarked, “We were going to bat first anyway. If the weather remains like this, there won’t be much dew in the second innings. It’s all about understanding the conditions. Our opening partnership (with Sai Sudharsan) has been solid, and hopefully we can put runs on the board. It’s about getting the right combination in one game. We lost the last match by a narrow margin. Hopefully, we can fix our batting. I come in for Kumar Kushagra.”

Recent Form of Both Teams

Delhi Capitals began their season strongly with a six-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants, followed by another six-wicket win against the Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans suffered a three-wicket loss to the Punjab Kings and narrowly went down by six runs against the Rajasthan Royals.

Delhi Capitals: KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Pathum Nissanka, Nitish Rana, Vipraj Nigam, Axar Patel (captain), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav, Lungi Ngidi, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar.
