Trump Confirms Iran Talks; Presses Putin For End To Ukraine War

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the United States is holding negotiations with Iran, indicating that the discussions involve more than one meeting.

Responding to a question at a White House event on whether talks with Tehran were taking place this week, Trump replied in the affirmative.

Pressed for details on the venue and substance of the discussions, Trump said the meetings were happening across multiple locations but declined to disclose specifics. He noted that Iran appeared willing to engage, adding that discussions were active and ongoing.

Trump referred to past US actions, suggesting Iran was keen to avoid renewed confrontation and had shown fresh interest in negotiations.

He said talks were ongoing and involved more than one meeting, without sharing further details.

On the war in Ukraine, Trump described a limited pause in attacks during freezing conditions and said strikes resumed after the pause ended. He said Russian President Vladimir Putin had observed the temporary understanding.

Trump said he wanted Putin to bring the conflict to an end, adding that he had spoken to the Russian leader and urged him to stop the war. He said Putin wanted a broader resolution to the conflict.

Trump made the remarks during a bill-signing ceremony, where he also addressed foreign policy issues. He described his earlier meeting with Colombian President Gustavo Petro as positive, saying they discussed counter-narcotics cooperation and sanctions.

Trump said the talks reflected ongoing diplomatic engagement on regional and global issues.
