Trump Claims Six Months Of No Unauthorised Entries As Administration Expands Immigration Crackdowns

During a Cabinet meeting, US President Donald Trump claimed that the United States has seen no illegal entries for the past six months.

At the same time, senior officials announced major enforcement actions on visa misuse and undocumented migration, developments closely followed by Indian immigrants, H-1B holders, students, and families.

On Tuesday, Trump said his administration had brought an end to what he called an unparalleled border emergency. He claimed that no unauthorised migrants had entered the country for six consecutive months.

The US President further added that overall illegal crossings had fallen to record lows. He praised the combined work of border enforcement agencies, immigration officials, and the military.

“Now they don’t even come up. Nobody comes up. It’s an easy job. I made your job a lot easier, because they know they’re not going to get through,” Trump asserted.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem told the Cabinet that her department had focused on undoing the previous administration’s approach to immigration.

Noem accused former President Joe Biden of weakening the system and allowing dangerous individuals to enter the United States. She said her department was now responsible for identifying and removing those without legal status.

She reported that ‘two million’ people living in the country unlawfully had already been removed.

Noem added that DHS was close to employing its ‘10,000th ICE officer’, following a surge in interest in enforcement roles. She also noted reductions in fentanyl smuggling at the southern border and highlighted major drug seizures in the Caribbean.

Noem said Trump had asked her to review cases of visa misuse within state-run programmes, claiming that many applications showed signs of fraud. She referred to situations involving fabricated family relationships and improper access to benefits. Trump signalled his approval in response.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said the Justice Department had been supporting DHS by defending federal policies in court. She highlighted legal victories on immigration matters, as well as action taken against sanctuary jurisdictions and crimes linked to undocumented migration.

For Indian communities in the United States, including international students, technology workers, entrepreneurs, and families awaiting immigration updates, the administration’s comments indicate continued pressure on enforcement and increased scrutiny of applications and entry routes.

Trump repeated that the United States would continue accepting newcomers only through lawful channels. He contrasted current figures with what he described as millions of arrivals in earlier years.

Indian American advocates say these policies are influencing employment-based immigration, student visa processing, and family reunification timelines.

They expect fraud checks, biometric requirements, and removal operations to remain central to the administration’s strategy heading into 2026.
