Trump Calls Israel ‘Great Ally’ As Iran Tightens Control Over Strait Of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has described Israel as a ‘great ally’ of the United States, praising its courage, strength, and loyalty as tensions with Iran continue to escalate.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said Israel has consistently stood by the United States during times of conflict, unlike other nations. He emphasised that Israel has demonstrated resilience and determination, adding that the country knows how to respond effectively under pressure.

The remarks came a day after President Trump cautioned Israel against further military action in Lebanon, signalling concern over the widening scope of regional instability.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council will maintain strict oversight of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz until the conflict ends and stability returns.

Iranian authorities said the decision follows the resumption of tighter control by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which cited ongoing US naval restrictions in the region.

Officials stated that Iran will regulate vessel movement by requiring detailed information, issuing transit permits, and imposing charges for security and environmental services.

The council also warned that it will treat any attempts to disrupt maritime movement or impose blockades as violations of the current ceasefire arrangement, potentially affecting navigation through the strategic route.

Iran further noted that a significant portion of logistical support for US bases in West Asia passes through the Strait, which it views as a concern for regional security.

The developments underline growing geopolitical tensions in the region, with both sides asserting control and signalling their strategic priorities.
