Trump Accuses Iran Of Strait Of Hormuz Ceasefire Breach

US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating a ceasefire understanding by restricting the movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz and has warned Tehran against imposing additional fees on vessels passing through the strategic waterway.

In a social media post, Trump said Iran was ‘doing a very poor job’ of allowing oil shipments through the strait, adding that such actions were not part of the agreement reached. He further cautioned Iran over reports suggesting it may be charging transit fees to tankers.

Trump says any charges on tankers must stop immediately, warning that disruption to shipping through the key maritime route would be unacceptable.

His remarks come amid reports that fewer vessels have passed through the Strait of Hormuz since the ceasefire began, raising concerns over global energy flows.

The US President previously considered US tolls on shipping in the same waterway and said he had only recently become aware of Iran’s alleged fee structure.

Iranian officials say that transit through the strait remains possible under certain conditions, including military coordination and technical limits, a stance that analysts see as consistent with earlier positions.

Trump also dismissed criticism from The Wall Street Journal and insisted that oil will continue to flow and that the US will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a vital global oil route, with any disruption closely watched by energy-importing nations, including India.
