In a devastating incident on Friday, a plane carrying 61 people crashed near São Paulo, Brazil, resulting in the deaths of all on board, according to a statement from regional airline Voepass.
The crash occurred in Vinhedo, a municipality in São Paulo state, and the aircraft fell into a residential area. While one home in a local condominium complex sustaine damage, authorities confirm that no residents got injuries.
The small twin-engine plane had departed from the city of Cascavel in the southern state of Paraná and was en route to São Paulo’s international airport, as reported by the BBC.

Initially, reports indicated that 62 people had perished in the crash. However, Voepass later corrected the death toll to 61. The airline confirmed that the flight, designated as Flight 2283, had 57 passengers and four crew members on board.
Voepass expressed its condolences and stated, “The company regrets to inform that all 61 people on board Flight 2283 died at the scene.” The airline emphasized its commitment to assisting the victims’ families and cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the accident.
ATR, the manufacturer of the crashed aircraft, has announced that its specialists are fully engaged in the investigation to uncover the cause of the tragedy.
