The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer; PM Modi Receives Kuwait’s Highest Honour

Kuwait conferred its highest civilian honour, The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, recognizing his exceptional achievements and efforts in bolstering India-Kuwait relations.

This prestigious knighthood, named after Kuwait’s seventh ruler Mubarak bin Sabah Al-Sabah, is reserved for Heads of State, foreign sovereigns, and members of royal families. Past recipients include global figures like Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, George Bush, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

With this award, PM Modi has now received 20 international honours, reflecting his global leadership and India’s growing stature on the world stage. Last month, Guyana awarded him its highest civilian honour, The Order of Excellence, for championing the rights of developing nations and fostering India-Guyana ties. Dominica also honoured him with the Dominica Award of Honour for India’s crucial support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In November, Nigeria bestowed its highest civilian honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), on PM Modi, making him the first foreign leader to receive this award since Queen Elizabeth in 1969.

This accolade from Kuwait adds to the extensive list of global recognitions PM Modi has received, including Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Sash, Russia’s Order of St. Andrew the Apostle, UAE’s Order of Zayed Award, and France’s Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, among others.

Analysts view these awards as a testament to India’s strengthened diplomatic relations and expanding global influence under PM Modi’s leadership. Beyond civilian honours, PM Modi has earned accolades like the Seoul Peace Prize and the Champions of the Earth Award for his contributions to global peace and environmental sustainability.

The recognition by Kuwait underscores India’s rising prominence in international affairs and the deepening bonds between the two nations.
