Tharoor-led Indian Delegation Meets US Senator Andy Kim To Discuss Pahalgam Attack And Bilateral Cooperation

On Friday, the all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Shashi Tharoor met with Senator Andy Kim, a member of the US Senate Homeland Security Committee, to brief him on the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.

The delegation emphasised India’s firm resolve to respond swiftly and decisively to any future terrorist incidents.

The Indian Embassy in the US highlighted the meeting on social media, stating, “The delegation discussed the heinous Pahalgam attack, India’s measured and precise response during Operation Sindoor, and its strong commitment to counterterrorism.”

Exploring Areas Of Cooperation

Besides counterterrorism, the talks also covered key areas for enhanced cooperation, including entrepreneurship, trade, and technology.

The delegation aimed to deepen the partnership between India and the US across multiple sectors.

Meeting With US Vice President JD Vance

Earlier the same day, the delegation engaged with US Vice President JD Vance to discuss Operation Sindoor and reinforce the India-US strategic partnership.

The Embassy of India in the United States shared on social media, “The delegation focused on strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism and other critical areas.”

Shashi Tharoor described the encounter on his social platform, writing, “Excellent meeting with Vice President @JDVance today in Washington D.C. with our delegation. We had comprehensive discussions covering a wide array of critical issues, from counter-terrorism efforts to enhancing technological cooperation. A truly constructive & productive exchange for strengthening India-US strategic partnership, with a great meeting of minds.”

Solidarity Amid Crisis

Vice President Vance was visiting India during the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. He had earlier expressed strong solidarity with India, condemning the attack and assuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the readiness of the United States to provide all necessary assistance in the joint fight against terrorism.
