Terrorism Is A Threat To Humanity, Not Just One Nation, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India and Australia remain united in their fight against terrorism, describing it as a threat to all humanity rather than any single nation.

Addressing a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese after the third India-Australia Leaders’ Summit in Melbourne, he said both countries continue to strengthen cooperation against terrorism.

PM Modi said both leaders discussed several regional and global issues during the summit. He stressed that India and Australia believe dialogue and diplomacy remain the only effective means to resolve conflicts and tensions across different parts of the world.

Prime Minister Modi said both nations will promote peace, stability and a rules-based Indo-Pacific together.

The Prime Minister said the Indo-Pacific reflects the shared aspirations of like-minded democracies, including India and Australia. He announced that both countries signed a joint declaration to deepen security cooperation.

India and Australia will also connect defence start-ups and industries through the India-Australia Defence Innovation Corridor.

The Prime Minister added that the new maritime security roadmap would strengthen cooperation in shipbuilding, ship repair and maintenance across the Indo-Pacific.

PM Modi described critical minerals as essential for strategic security and the clean energy transition. He announced the launch of the Australia-India Partnership on Cyber, Critical Technologies and Supply Chains (PACTS) and confirmed that both countries would jointly develop the Critical Minerals Corridor.

Highlighting strong people-to-people relations, PM Modi said the Indian diaspora continues to contribute significantly to Australia’s economy and society. He noted that Australia remains a preferred destination for Indian students and welcomed the opening of Australian university campuses in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said both countries would further expand exchanges among students, professionals and tourists.
