Elon Musk
Elon Musk announced today that Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza.
He was replying to United States leader Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, often known as AOC, who wondered how anybody could justify such an act after communications and internet access in Gaza were cut off last night.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote, “Cutting off all communication to a population of 2.2 million is unacceptable. Journalists, medical professionals, humanitarian efforts, and innocents are all endangered. I do not know how such an act can be defended. The United States has historically denounced this practice”, through her official ‘X’ handle.
Mr. Musk responded, “Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza”.
Starlink is a satellite network designed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX to give low-cost internet access to remote locations.
A Starlink satellite has a five-year lifespan, and SpaceX intends to eventually have as many as 42,000 satellites in this so-called mega constellation.
On Friday, the Gaza Strip’s internet access and phone networks were entirely cut off due to Israeli bombardment of the Palestinian enclave.
Israel, according to Hamas, took the measure to perpetrate massacres with bloody retaliatory strikes from the air, land, and sea.
