National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, September 13, during his visit to Russia for the BRICS NSA Summit. In a significant diplomatic move, Doval conveyed a personal message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to President Putin.
Doval informed Putin that Prime Minister Modi had specifically requested him to deliver details about Modi’s recent visit to Kiev and his discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “As Prime Minister Modi mentioned during our phone conversation, he is eager to provide you with information about his visit to Ukraine and his meeting with President Zelensky,” Doval relayed to Putin. “The Prime Minister wanted me to come personally to share this information with you.”

During the meeting, which took place in St. Petersburg, President Putin expressed a desire to meet with Prime Minister Modi separately from the BRICS Summit. He described Modi as a very good friend and extended his best wishes.
