Ukraine’s Air Forces claimed that Russia launched a combination drone and missile strike on Ukraine early Sunday, primarily targeting the southern sections of the Odesa region and destroying an agriculture facility.
As per the Air Force, Russia deployed six Iranian-made Shahed drones and 10 cruise missiles, with Ukraine’s forces destroying six drones and six missiles before they reached their target.
Grain markets are keeping a close eye on the situation in Odesa and its ports, as Kyiv said on Saturday that two cargo ships had arrived to use a temporary corridor to sail into Black Sea ports and load grain for African and Asian markets.
“Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and other means of attack were involved in repelling the air attack”, the Air Force continued.
The amount of the damage was unknown at the time, and it was unclear whose facility had been attacked. The Air Force simply stated that emergency services were present.
For several hours, Ukraine’s whole land was under air attack alert.
Ukraine declared last month a humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea to free ships stranded in its ports since the start of the war in February 2022, as well as to avoid a de facto blockade imposed after Russia abandoned a pact to allow Kyiv to export grain.
