Russia Launches 28 Drones, 3 Cruise Missiles Against Ukraine Overnight; Kyiv Claims 21 Destroyed

Russia launched 28 drones and three cruise missiles against Ukraine overnight, the Ukrainian air force stated on Sunday, adding that 21 of the drones were destroyed by Ukraine’s air defence systems.

On Telegram, the air force reported that Russia mostly targeted south and east of Ukraine, but it did not disclose what happened to the three cruise missiles that it says Russia allegedly launched.

“The enemy is shifting the focus of attack to the frontline territories – Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions were attacked by drones”, said Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Air Force.

Neither military nor civilian officials have reported any damage or injuries.

Ihnat stated that mobile teams destroyed the majority of drones, saving scarce air defence missiles.

He went on to say that Ukrainian troops utilized some missiles to fight two recent large Russian raids, and processes are underway to continue to provide Ukraine with the number of missiles needed to repel air attacks.

Russia used over 300 missiles and more than 200 drones to launch attacks in late 2023 and early 2024.
