Russia Intercepts Over 100 Ukrainian Drones Overnight

On Friday, Moscow’s defence ministry stated that Russia intercepted over 100 Ukrainian drones overnight in the country’s south and Crimea and the Black Sea.

In a statement, the defence ministry stated, “Fifty-one drones were destroyed over Crimea, 44 over the Krasnodar region, six over the Belgorod region, six over the Black Sea and one over the Kursk region”.

The strike was one of Ukraine’s largest overnight drone attacks, and it came as Russian forces advanced along the front line, gaining the most territory in 18 months.

Russia’s most recent offensive has put additional strain on Ukraine’s outgunned and outmanned soldiers.

According to the report based on data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), between May 9 and 15, Moscow seized 278 square kilometres (107 square miles) of Ukrainian territory, the largest territorial gain in a single operation since mid-December 2022.
