PM Modi’s G7 Visit In Canada Sparks Enthusiasm Among Indian Diaspora

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Canada to attend the G7 Summit has ignited a wave of enthusiasm among the Indian diaspora, who see it as a testament to India’s growing global recognition and influence.

This marks PM Modi’s first visit to Canada in nearly a decade, following a period of strained diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney extended the invitation to Prime Minister Modi, and leaders are hailing his presence at the summit as a significant diplomatic gesture.

Many in both countries see it as an opportunity to revive and improve bilateral relations.

Naresh Kumar Chavda, Director of the People of Indian Origin Chamber of Commerce (PIOCC), remarked, “The fact that India is now being invited to such high-level global summits shows that the world acknowledges our country’s growing stature. PM Modi Ji’s G7 presence after ten years is very promising.”

Author and podcaster Kushal Mehra echoed similar sentiments, calling the visit a ‘positive development’ and highlighting the encouraging news of renewed security cooperation between India and Canada.

A ray of hope for a diplomatic reset

Indo-Canadian citizen Mann Parekh noted, “It’s no secret that Canada-India relations have been under strain in recent years. Prime Minister Carney’s invitation signals a ray of hope – a chance to reset and rebuild this vital relationship.”

Kushagr Sharma, President of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce, also underlined the economic potential of the visit. “PM Modi Ji’s arrival indicates that both nations are keen to collaborate. With improved relations, trade will increase, boosting the economies of both countries.”

Nidhi Lodha, a Senate member at the University of Calgary, stated, “This visit gives us hope that relations will strengthen. PM Modi has shown strong leadership for India, and we are proud to have him represent our nation on the world stage.”

Swati, a member of the Indian community in Toronto, said, “This is a positive moment. Under PM Modi Ji’s leadership, India is showing the world that it is no longer an underdeveloped country, but a rising global power.”

As PM Modi engages with global leaders at the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, the Indian diaspora remains optimistic that his visit will not only enhance India’s global image but also reignite a constructive dialogue between New Delhi and Ottawa, laying the foundation for stronger ties in the years to come.
