Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Ayurveda Garden at the State House in Mauritius on Tuesday. The project was developed in partnership with the government of India.
Accompanied by Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool, PM Modi explored the garden. The site symbolizes the growing collaboration between the two nations in traditional medicine.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared details of the visit, emphasizing India’s commitment to promoting Ayurveda globally.
The statement read, “Prime Minister also visited the Ayurveda Garden in the State House, established in collaboration with the Government of India. Prime Minister noted that Mauritius is an important partner for India in advancing the benefits of traditional medicine including Ayurveda.”
PM Modi also took to social media to appreciate the initiative, highlighting the rising interest in Ayurveda in Mauritius.
Taking to X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted, “It is commendable that an Ayurvedic Garden has been built in the State House in Mauritius. I am also happy that Ayurveda is gaining popularity in Mauritius. President Dharambeer Gokhool and I went to the Ayurvedic Garden, giving me the opportunity to see it firsthand.”
The Prime Minister is in Mauritius as the Chief Guest for the country’s National Day celebrations. PM Modi’s visit underscores the enduring diplomatic and cultural ties between the two nations.
Following his visit to the garden, President Gokhool hosted a special lunch in PM Modi’s honor.
Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for Mauritius.
PM Modi stated, “It is once again my privilege to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the Chief Guest.”
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President for this warm hospitality and honour. This is not just an occasion for a meal but a symbol of the vibrant and close ties between India and Mauritius,” the Prime Minister further asserted.
As part of his visit, PM Modi presented OCI Cards to President Gokhool and First Lady Brinda Gokhool.
The Prime Minister also gifted them sacred Sangam water from Maha Kumbh in a Brass and Copper pot and superfood Makhana.
Additionally, PM Modi presented a Banarasi saree in a handcrafted Sadeli box to the First Lady.
