Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday encouraged Malaysian businesses to explore the vast opportunities offered by India, as he interacted with prominent industry leaders in Kuala Lumpur.
The interaction underlined the growing strength of business-to-business ties between the two countries and the strong interest of Malaysian companies in India’s economic trajectory.
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister met PETRONAS President and Group CEO Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik, Berjaya Corporation Berhad Founder Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, Khazanah Nasional Berhad Managing Director Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, and Phison Electronics Founder Dato Pua Khein Seng.
During the discussions, PM Modi highlighted India’s potential across sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, digital technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and healthcare.
He encouraged Malaysian enterprises to actively participate in these areas, which form the backbone of India’s long-term development strategy.
The Prime Minister also outlined the reforms undertaken in recent years to promote ease of doing business, stressing that India now offers a stable, efficient and predictable policy environment for global investors.
PM Modi welcomed the convening of the 10th India-Malaysia CEO Forum in Kuala Lumpur and expressed confidence that its deliberations would further deepen bilateral trade and investment relations.
Industry leaders, in turn, appreciated India’s reform agenda aimed at building a Viksit Bharat and conveyed strong confidence in the country’s growth story.
They expressed keen interest in expanding their investment portfolios in India and exploring joint ventures with Indian partners.
Earlier, PM Modi and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim jointly condemned terrorism in all its forms, reaffirming zero tolerance and agreeing to strengthen cooperation against radicalisation, terror financing and the misuse of emerging technologies through information sharing and capacity building.
