Prime Minister Narendra Modi met UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi, where both sides reaffirmed their intent to further strengthen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Their discussions centred on widening collaboration in crucial sectors such as energy, commerce, infrastructure, and emerging technologies, reflecting the deepening ties between the two nations. Energy cooperation emerged as a central theme during the meeting.
Both leaders acknowledged a Strategic Collaboration Agreement between Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.
This arrangement will expand the UAE’s involvement in India’s strategic petroleum reserves up to 30 million barrels and includes plans to jointly explore the development of gas storage facilities in India.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited secured a long-term agreement with ADNOC for the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, strengthening India’s energy supply chain.
The UAE unveiled investment commitments totalling USD 5 billion in India, highlighting its continued confidence in India’s economic trajectory.
The Emirates New Development Bank will invest USD 3 billion in RBL Bank, while the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority will channel USD 1 billion into the National Infrastructure and Investment Fund. Additionally, the International Holding Company will invest USD 1 billion in Sammaan Capital.
In the maritime sector, Cochin Shipyard Limited partnered with Drydocks World on a new initiative. The collaboration aims to establish a ship repair cluster in Gujarat and promote skill development in the sector.
On the technological front, India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing partnered with G42 on a new project. The collaboration aims to develop a high-performance supercomputing cluster with an 8 Exaflop capacity.
Both leaders welcomed the launch of the Virtual Trade Corridor under the MAITRI initiative.
The project aims to improve trade efficiency by digitally linking customs and port systems. The initiative will likely reduce logistics costs and shorten transit durations.
The two sides also acknowledged the positive impact of the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. They noted that the agreement had helped bilateral trade reach new levels.
The outcomes of this visit reflect a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across diverse sectors.
The strengthened partnership is expected to bolster energy security, accelerate investment flows, and further solidify India-UAE relations globally.
