Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and lauded President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for displaying restraint and courage during the challenging situation.
During a meeting in Abu Dhabi, PM Modi thanked the UAE government and the royal family for taking care of the Indian community amid the crisis.
“We strongly condemn the attack that took place in the UAE. The way the UAE was targeted is unacceptable in any form. In these difficult circumstances, the restraint and courage you demonstrated are highly commendable,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister further added, “We congratulate you for the steps taken under your leadership for maintaining national unity, security and territorial integrity. In such challenging times, the way you cared for the Indian community and looked after them like members of your own family, I express my heartfelt appreciation to the UAE government and the royal family for that.”
PM Modi underlined that keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, free and secure remains India’s highest priority. He made the remark while referring to the tensions in West Asia.
“The impact of the war-like situation in the West Asia conflict is being felt across the world. India has always given priority to dialogue and diplomacy for resolving issues. Keeping Hormuz free, open and safe is our highest priority. In this matter, adherence to international laws is essential,” he said.
Reiterating India’s support for the UAE, PM Modi said India stands ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with the Gulf nation. He added that India is ready to provide all possible support for restoring peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also thanked the UAE President for the warm welcome in Abu Dhabi. He also appreciated the ceremonial escort provided by UAE Air Force jets.
Earlier, PM Modi posted on social media about his visit to the UAE. He said he looked forward to discussions on strengthening India-UAE cooperation in energy, investment and supply chains.
