PM Modi Praises Italian Women Performing Indian Classical Dance In Rome

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the growing global appeal of Indian classical dance after five Italian women performed Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam and Kathak during his visit to Rome.

The cultural performance formed part of the welcome ceremony organised for the Prime Minister during the final leg of his five-nation tour.

Sharing a video of the performance on the social media platform X, PM Modi appreciated the artists for their passion towards Indian culture. He highlighted that Svamini Atmananda Giri, Martina Meenakshi Argada, Lucrezia Maniscotti, Valeria Vespaziani and Rosella Fanelli performed a ‘Trigalbandi’ presentation combining three major Indian classical dance traditions.

The Prime Minister said it was encouraging to see Indian dance forms attracting global admiration and participation.

The performers also expressed happiness after meeting the Prime Minister.

Artist Martina Argada said PM Modi appreciated their performance and thanked the Indian Embassy in Rome for providing the opportunity to perform before him.

Kathak artist Rosella Fanelli described the occasion as emotional and memorable, saying the group had waited a long time for the opportunity.

During the visit, PM Modi toured the historic Colosseum in Rome with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

PM Meloni also hosted a dinner meeting with the Prime Minister, where the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen India-Italy ties.

PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Meloni and meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella during the visit.

The leaders are expected to adopt a joint declaration to deepen the India-Italy strategic partnership under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029.
