Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held delegation-level talks in Jerusalem on Thursday, marking the culmination of the Indian leader’s two-day State Visit.
The engagement underscored sustained momentum in the India-Israel strategic partnership.
Senior officials attended the meeting.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval joined the deliberations alongside their Israeli counterparts. The presence of high-ranking representatives signalled the breadth and depth of the agenda.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi called on Israeli President Isaac Herzog. Both leaders reviewed avenues to expand cooperation in education, start-ups, innovation, technology and connectivity.
PM Modi thanked President Herzog for his consistent support in strengthening bilateral ties.
During the visit to the Presidential residence, PM Modi planted a tree in the gardens under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
The symbolic act reflected environmental stewardship and cultural goodwill. He also invited President Herzog to undertake an official visit to India in the near future.
Before these engagements, the Prime Minister visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Centre. He laid a wreath in honour of Holocaust victims and participated in a memorial ceremony at the Hall of Remembrance.
PM Modi toured the Book of Names, which documents 4.8 million Jewish victims, and signed the guest book. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan accompanied him.
This marked his second visit to the memorial, following his 2017 trip.
Prime Minister Modi had received a ceremonial welcome in Tel Aviv from Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu. He subsequently addressed a Special Plenary of the Knesset, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.
The delegation-level dialogue in Jerusalem reinforced shared strategic objectives and affirmed continued collaboration across diplomatic, economic and security spheres.
