Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday to deepen bilateral engagement across critical domains. The discussions centred on education, start-ups, innovation, technology and connectivity.
Both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to consolidate the special partnership between India and Israel.
PM Modi thanked President Herzog for his consistent support in reinforcing strategic ties.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the leaders examined fresh avenues for collaboration in emerging sectors and institutional partnerships. They emphasised innovation-driven growth and knowledge exchange as engines of future cooperation.
During the engagement in Jerusalem, the Prime Minister planted a tree in the Presidential Gardens under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
The symbolic gesture reflected environmental commitment and cultural outreach. He also extended an invitation to President Herzog to undertake a visit to India in the near future.
Earlier, President Herzog shared a video message welcoming the Indian leader. He expressed anticipation in hosting PM Modi and underscored the warmth shared between the two nations.
Before the presidential meeting, the Prime Minister visited Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.
PM Modi laid a wreath in tribute to Holocaust victims and participated in a solemn ceremony at the Hall of Remembrance. He toured the Book of Names, which documents 4.8 million Jewish victims, and signed the memorial guest book.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan accompanied him.
This marked his second visit to the memorial, following his 2017 trip.
PM Modi is on a two-day State Visit to Israel. He received a ceremonial welcome in Tel Aviv and addressed a Special Plenary of the Knesset in Jerusalem, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.
President Herzog earlier conveyed that the people of Israel looked forward to welcoming him, reinforcing the depth of bilateral goodwill.
