On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tashkent for a two-day visit to Uzbekistan, with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev personally receiving him at the airport.
PM Modi thanked President Mirziyoyev for the gesture, describing it as a reflection of the strong and expanding relationship between India and Uzbekistan.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Landed in Tashkent to a warm welcome by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Grateful to him for the special gesture. This is my fourth visit to Uzbekistan, reflecting the depth and growing momentum of our bilateral relations.”

The Prime Minister will likely hold delegation-level discussions with President Mirziyoyev. Trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy are expected to feature prominently in the talks.
The talks will focus on strengthening the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership and advancing the development visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Yangi Uzbekistan.
PM Modi will visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. He said these visits would highlight the cultural and people-to-people links between the two countries.
PM Modi has previously visited Uzbekistan in 2015, 2016 and 2022, including visits linked to Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summits.
India and Uzbekistan have maintained close engagement through bilateral and multilateral platforms.
President Mirziyoyev visited India for a State Visit in 2018 and attended the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in 2019.
From Tashkent, PM Modi will travel to Bishkek at the invitation of Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Zhaparov. He will attend the 26th SCO Summit, which marks 25 years of the organisation.
