PM Modi Invites New Zealand Businesses To Invest In India’s Growth Story

Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited New Zealand investors and business leaders to strengthen economic partnerships with India by investing in key sectors, including infrastructure, civil aviation, logistics, clean energy, urban mobility, water management, waste management and the digital economy.

Addressing a gathering of CEOs and business leaders in Auckland, PM Modi highlighted India’s rapid economic growth and expanding investment opportunities.

Calling for closer collaboration between the private sectors of both countries, the Prime Minister emphasised India’s vibrant start-up ecosystem and encouraged partnerships in innovation, fintech and emerging technologies. He said combining New Zealand’s expertise in dairy science, horticulture and forestry with India’s large consumer market, food parks and agri-tech talent could help build globally competitive food value chains.

PM Modi urged businesses to expand investment and commercial partnerships to achieve the shared target of doubling bilateral trade to NZ$7 billion by 2030. He said the India-New Zealand economic partnership had the potential to become a model for inclusive, sustainable trade while driving innovation, growth and prosperity.

Speaking in the presence of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, PM Modi said the two countries shared democratic values, respect for the rule of law, diversity and a common commitment to sustainable development. He noted that these shared principles provided a strong foundation for a forward-looking economic partnership.

PM Modi described the proposed India-New Zealand FTA as a landmark agreement to boost trade, investment and technology cooperation. He added that India’s rapid growth, digital transformation and ongoing reforms offered significant opportunities for New Zealand businesses.
