PM Modi Highlights India-US Partnership During Visit, Calls It A ‘Mega Partnership For Prosperity’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the growing partnership between India and the US, dubbing it a ‘mega partnership for prosperity’.

At a joint briefing with President Donald Trump on Thursday, PM Modi drew a parallel between the American motto, ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA), and India’s vision of ‘Make India Great Again’ (MIGA), which is part of the country’s broader goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

According to PM Modi, the combination of MAGA and MIGA is a potent symbol of cooperation and shared prosperity between the two nations. He said, “When America and India work together, this MAGA plus MIGA becomes a ‘mega partnership for prosperity,’ giving new scale and scope to our objectives.”

Bilateral Trade Targets Set for $500 Billion by 2030

Further strengthening the partnership, the two leaders announced an ambitious target to increase bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. PM Modi revealed that both countries are working towards a mutually beneficial trade agreement, which will be finalized soon.

“We will work on finalizing a mutually beneficial trade agreement,” the Prime Minister stated. “This partnership will not only benefit both our nations but also promote joint development, joint production, and transfer of technology.”

Energy and Defence Cooperation Strengthened

In addition to trade, PM Modi highlighted the importance of energy security and defense cooperation between India and the US. He discussed plans to enhance oil and gas trade, which will help ensure India’s energy security. The leaders also spoke about the increasing investments in energy infrastructure, with a particular focus on small modular reactors in the nuclear energy sector.

On defense, PM Modi emphasized America’s crucial role in strengthening India’s preparedness. “In the coming days, new technology and equipment will increase our capacity,” he said, pointing out that the US plays a key role in India’s defense sector.

A Momentous Meeting: PM Modi, Trump, and Elon Musk

PM Modi’s visit to the US was marked by high-level meetings, including a sit-down with President Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

The meeting came just hours after President Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on all countries, including India. Despite the announcement, both leaders appeared committed to moving forward with their discussions and partnership.

PM Modi Shares On Social Media

Prime Minister Modi’s remarks on social media reinforced the spirit of collaboration: “President Trump often talks about MAGA. In India, we are working towards a Viksit Bharat, which in the American context translates into MIGA. And together, the India-USA have a MEGA partnership for prosperity!”
