Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump met briefly on Tuesday and exchanged greetings on the sidelines of a G7 Summit outreach session in Evian, France.
The two leaders shook hands and had a brief conversation before participating in the G7 working session on ‘Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity’, which was attended by G7 member nations, partner countries, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank.
PM Modi and President Trump will likely hold a bilateral meeting on Wednesday, where they are likely to discuss economic growth, supply chains, Artificial Intelligence (AI), investment partnerships and a range of global security challenges.
The meeting will be the first bilateral engagement between the two leaders since last year’s successful ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan.
According to the White House, the meeting will take place before both leaders join a working lunch attended by G7 leaders, outreach partners and technology executives.
Earlier in the day, French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed PM Modi upon his arrival in Evian for the summit. The two leaders greeted each other warmly ahead of an outreach session attended by President Trump and other world leaders.
Upon reaching France, PM Modi stated that he looked forward to interacting with global leaders and discussing key international issues.
