Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday invited Jordanian companies to partner with India and benefit from its vast 1.4 billion consumer market, robust manufacturing ecosystem and a stable, transparent and predictable policy environment.
Addressing the India-Jordan Business Forum in Amman alongside King Abdullah II, the Prime Minister emphasised the immense potential for deeper economic engagement between the two nations.
PM Modi said that Jordan’s network of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), combined with India’s growing economic strength, could help create a powerful economic corridor connecting South Asia with West Asia and beyond.
Both leaders underlined the strategic importance of enhancing business-to-business ties and urged industry leaders from both countries to translate potential opportunities into tangible growth and shared prosperity.
King Abdullah II and Prime Minister Modi jointly acknowledged that closer commercial collaboration would not only strengthen bilateral relations but also contribute to regional economic stability and development.
Highlighting India’s position as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, PM Modi noted that the country is on track to become the third-largest economy globally. He stressed that India offers vast opportunities for Jordanian businesses across sectors, supported by reforms, digital transformation and a business-friendly environment.
The Prime Minister proposed an ambitious target of doubling India-Jordan bilateral trade to $5 billion over the next five years, calling it both achievable and mutually beneficial.
PM Modi outlined several priority areas for collaboration, including Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), information technology, fintech, health-tech and agri-tech. He invited startups from both countries to work together, leveraging innovation to address global challenges and emerging market needs.
The Prime Minister further suggested that India and Jordan could position themselves as trusted supply chain partners for the world, particularly in technology-driven and future-ready sectors.
Noting India’s global strength in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, PM Modi said Jordan’s strategic geographical location could complement India’s capabilities.
Together, the two countries could develop Jordan as a reliable hub for West Asia and Africa in healthcare manufacturing and distribution.
Additional opportunities were highlighted in agriculture, cold chain infrastructure, food parks, fertilisers, automobiles, infrastructure development and green mobility.
Emphasising India’s commitment to sustainable development, PM Modi called for enhanced collaboration in renewable energy, green financing, desalination, and water recycling.
He also identified heritage and cultural tourism as promising sectors for joint investment, given the rich historical legacies of both nations.
Prime Minister Modi’s address underscored India’s readiness to deepen its economic partnership with Jordan through trade, innovation and sustainable development.
His call for collaboration reflects a shared vision of growth, positioning India and Jordan as key partners in shaping regional and global economic connectivity.
