Philippines President Marcos Jr On Five-Day India Visit To Meet PM Modi, President Murmu

President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr’s upcoming state visit underscores the growing partnership between India and the Philippines.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit aims to expand cooperation in trade, defence, technology, and cultural exchange.

The President will arrive at Delhi’s Air Force Station Palam at 1:50 PM on Monday.

His first engagement will be an evening meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar at Hotel Taj Mahal, setting the stage for high-level dialogues during the visit.

On Tuesday, President Marcos Jr will receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 9 AM, followed by a visit to Rajghat to pay homage at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial.

This symbolic gesture reflects the importance of historical and cultural ties between the two nations.

Later on Tuesday, the President will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House.

Leaders will discuss strategic partnerships, trade agreements, and regional security in the meeting.

The session will also witness the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in key areas, accompanied by a joint statement highlighting future collaboration.

That evening, President Marcos Jr will meet Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda, followed by discussions with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Delhi Engagements & Bengaluru Leg of the Visit

On August 6, the Philippines’ President will attend multiple events in Delhi focusing on technology, investment, and cultural exchange.

The engagements aim to foster stronger ties in innovation and people-to-people connections.

On August 7, he will travel to Bengaluru and meet the Governor of Karnataka at Hotel Taj West End.

This leg of the visit is expected to highlight opportunities in IT, aerospace, and industrial cooperation.

President Marcos Jr’s visit marks a pivotal moment in India–Philippines relations.

Both nations aim to use this platform to deepen their strategic partnership and strengthen economic, cultural, and technological cooperation.

The visit will conclude on August 8, when the Philippines’ President departs for Manila, leaving behind renewed momentum for future collaborations.
