Pakistani Court Reissues Non-Bailable Warrants Against Imran Khan’s Sister Aleema Khan

A Pakistani Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi on Tuesday again issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Aleema Khan.

The case relates to her alleged role in a protest held in November 2024.

The court also issued warrants for her two guarantors, citing repeated failure to comply with judicial orders.

Local media said the court summoned the Superintendent of Police Rawal. The court issued a show-cause notice for failing to execute the arrest warrants against Aleema Khan.

The judge ordered the police officer to appear on Wednesday and explain the delay.

The ATC also issued non-bailable warrants for the two guarantors, Nadeem Bilal and Wahid Mehmood.

The court ordered SP Rawal to arrest them and present them before the bench without delay, according to The Express Tribune.

The court rejected Aleema Khan’s request for exemption from personal appearance. It instructed the police to arrest her and ensure her presence before the court on February 4, making it clear that no further leniency would be granted.

Authorities registered the case at Sadiqabad Police Station. It relates to a protest staged at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on November 24, 2024.

The demonstration followed a “final call” issued by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on November 13, 2024.

Imran Khan had urged supporters to protest for the restoration of PTI’s electoral mandate, the release of detained party members, and the withdrawal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

PTI supporters from several districts gathered in Islamabad in response.

The state launched a security operation against demonstrators, which led PTI leaders to leave the protest site. The demonstration ended on November 26.

Imran Khan has remained in prison since August 2023.

Authorities have booked him in multiple cases, including corruption and terrorism-related charges, following his removal from office through a no-confidence motion in 2022.

Separately, PTI has moved the Sindh High Court against the alleged detention of more than 180 party workers during police raids in Karachi and other districts.

PTI leaders accused the Sindh police of conducting pre-dawn operations under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance. The Sindh government has denied the allegations.

The petition seeks annulment of the detention orders dated February 1 and calls for the immediate release of the detained workers.
