In the murder case of senior Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Abdul Razzaq Shar, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The PTI chief has been summoned to the Supreme Court on July 24 at 10:30 am.
Imran Khan’s petition was heard by a three-member bench led by Justice Yahya Khan Afridi.
However, at the start of the hearing, the counsel for PTI chairman Latif Khosa pleaded with the court to halt the proceedings.
In his arguments before the Supreme Court, Khosa stated that the government’s Joint Investigation Team (JIT) is in violation of the law. To that purpose, Justice Yahya Afridi stated that the accused should first appear in court.
On June 7, the PTI chief was charged with murder, terrorism, and other offenses in Advocate Abdul Razzaq Shar’s murder case, which was registered at the Shaheed Jameel Kakar police station.
Abdul Razzaq Shar was shot dead on Airport Road in Quetta on Tuesday, and the case was opened on the complaint of the deceased’s son.
Earlier that day, on June 21, the PTI president was granted protective bail in three instances relating to the vandalism and the murder of veteran Supreme Court lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar in Quetta on May 9.
