Pakistan: Suicide Blast kills 5 Security Personnel In Balochistan Province

A suicide bomb blast in Turbat, Balochistan, killed at least eight security personnel and injured more than 40 others. The majority of the injured were security officials. The blast occurred in the Dhang area when a passenger van and an adjacent police vehicle were targeted.

Most passengers in the van were also security personnel, further increasing the impact of the attack. The explosion rocked the area, followed by emergency response teams rushing to the site. Rescue workers transported the injured and the dead to local hospitals. Medical staff later confirmed that many of the injured were in critical condition.

Baloch Liberation Army Claims Responsibility For The Attack

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack. The Majeed Brigade of BLA issued a statement, saying, “Our Firdayee unit carried out a Fidayeen attack on a convoy of the Pakistani army in Turbat, eliminating several military personnel.”

This attack is part of a continuing series of BLA assaults targeting military convoys, security checkposts, and police vehicles. The Majeed Brigade has previously carried out ambushes, targeting security forces and their families.

Balochistan Remains A Hotspot For Security Forces

Balochistan continues to be a high-risk area for Pakistani security forces. The Pakistani military carried out 57,775 operations across the country in 2024, with the majority in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As 2025 begins, the latest attack by the BLA in Turbat highlights the ongoing security challenges. These attacks are expected to keep Pakistani forces on high alert in the region.
