NSA Ajit Doval Meets Russian Deputy Security Chief To Strengthen Strategic Ties

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met Aleksandr Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Federation’s Security Council, in Beijing on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 20th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Security Council Secretaries.

The Indian Embassy in Beijing stated on X, “H.E. Aleksandr Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation called on NSA Shri Ajit Doval today on the sidelines of the 20th Meeting of the SCO Security Council Secretaries in Beijing.”

The meeting reflected the continued strength and importance of the long-standing India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

Discussion on regional & global concerns

According to official sources, the two leaders engaged in wide-ranging discussions covering bilateral cooperation and key regional and international developments.

Both sides recognised the value of sustained strategic dialogue amid shifting global dynamics.

Issues of mutual concern—including global security architecture, energy cooperation, and multilateral engagement within the SCO and BRICS—were among the central topics discussed during the meeting.

During the conversation, Deputy Secretary Venediktov extended an invitation to NSA Doval to visit Russia for the next round of strategic dialogue.

Both sides agreed to advance bilateral engagement in accordance with the vision laid out by their respective national leaderships.

“Both sides reiterated the importance of taking forward their bilateral cooperation based on the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,” the Indian Embassy noted.

This reaffirmation aligns with ongoing efforts by both nations to maintain strong ties in key sectors such as defence, space, nuclear energy, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

India-Russia relations in strategic focus

The India-Russia relationship, built on decades of trust and cooperation, continues to be an anchor in New Delhi’s foreign policy.

The strategic partnership has remained resilient despite global realignments, with regular top-level meetings reinforcing mutual priorities.

As the world navigates new security challenges and geopolitical shifts, NSA Doval’s engagement with Venediktov underscores India’s commitment to multipolar diplomacy and regional stability.

The meeting also sets the stage for future interactions that will further strengthen bilateral ties and uphold shared interests in Eurasian and global forums.
