Kim Jong Un’s second child, Kim Ju Ae features on a series of North Korea’s postage stamps on Tuesday. The stamps are part of a series commemorating the November launch of the Hwasong-17 intercontinental ballistic missile. It will be issued on Friday, February 17, 2023.
Kim Jong Un also has a son who is older than Kim Ju Ae and a third child, likely a daughter. But it is said only Kim Ju Ae is her father’s officially confirmed child.
Kim Ju Ae has made four public appearances so far. She made her first public appearance on January 19, 2022. Last week, she attended a military parade marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army. There are rumors that she would become the successor to Kim Jong-Un.
The Kim family has been in power since North Korea’s establishment in 1948 under Kim Il Sung. After his death in 1994, his son Kim Jong Il took power, followed by third-generation leader Kim Jong Un in late 2011.
Images released by the North Korean postal service on its website show five stamps with Ju Ae, including scenes of her walking hand-in-hand with her father in front of a missile launcher and posing with troops. The other stamps in the series feature the Hwasong-17 in various positions before and after launch.
