Moscow’s war efforts damaged by Ukraine’s attack on Russian Navy in Black Sea

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky attempted to rouse his troops on Tuesday despite the expectation from the outside world for immediate victories, claiming that Moscow’s war efforts had been severely damaged by the attack by Ukraine on the Russian Navy in the Black Sea. The huge frontline in Ukraine’s east and south has not shifted much in the last year, despite Kyiv’s exhausting months-long battle, which has angered and impatiently led some of Ukraine’s Western friends.

“We live in a world that gets used to success too quickly. When the full-scale invasion began, many people around the world did not believe that Ukraine would survive,” Zelensky said in his nightly video address. “Glory to all those who do not retreat, who do not burn out, who believe in Ukraine just as they did on February 24, and who has been fighting for unwaveringly.”

20 months of war and it still continues

Russia began the war on February 24, 2022, and it is currently in its 20th month with no sign of an end in sight. Russian forces are losing a great deal of ground as they prepare for new attacks in several areas of the front.

Zelensky said that his forces had succeeded in lessening Moscow’s military might in the Black Sea, and he predicted that Ukraine will ultimately triumph over Russia with more backing from its allies. The conflict now has the Black Sea as a key theater. Drone strikes from Ukraine, both air and sea, have caused damage to ship and naval repair yards in the port of Sevastopol as well as striking other Russian military targets.

Moscow’s attack on Ukraine

Moscow launches long-range attacks on Ukraine using its Black Sea navy. However, the waterways, which link to the Mediterranean Sea, are also seen by President Vladimir Putin as a crucial launching pad for extending dominance into the Middle East, Europe, and the West. “When we ensure even more security to the Black Sea, Russia will lose any ability to dominate in this area and expand its malign influence to other countries,” Zelensky said.

It’s still unknown how much harm Ukraine has caused to the Russian Black Sea Fleet in recent months. With minimal evidence, the Russian Defense Ministry’s cryptic comments mostly assert that the weapons have been destroyed. “Ukraine’s success in the battle for the Black Sea will go down in history books, although it’s not being discussed much today,” Zelensky said.
