Kim Jong Un’s Russian Gifts: Drones And A Bulletproof Vest

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un got five explosive drones, a spy drone, and a bulletproof vest as gifts from a regional governor during his visit to Russia.

The North Korean leaders’s first official visit since the coronavirus pandemic has fueled Western suspicions that Moscow and Pyongyang may violate sanctions and reach an arms deal.

Kim visited with the Russian defence minister in Vladivostok on Saturday, where he examined cutting-edge armaments, including a hypersonic missile system.

The leader of the DPRK received five kamikaze drones and a ‘Geran-25’ reconnaissance drone with vertical takeoff.

The governor of the Primorye area, which borders China and North Korea, also offered Kim Jong Un a set of bulletproof protection as well as special clothing that is not detectable by thermal cameras.

The North Korean leaders’s extended tour of Russia’s far eastern region, which began on Tuesday, has been heavily focused on military affairs, as demonstrated by his own officer-dominated retinue, a symbolic exchange of arms with President Vladimir Putin, and a visit to a fighter jet factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.

Moscow is thought to be keen on purchasing North Korean weaponry to continue fighting in Ukraine, while Pyongyang is thought to be interested in developing its globally condemned missile programme.

According to the Kremlin, no deal has been or will be signed.

On Sunday, Kim also met with North Korean students studying in Vladivostok.

The atmosphere during Kim’s visit was fervent and warm and a new era of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation was started between North Korea and Russia.
