JeM Commander Claims Masood Azhar’s Family Hit In Operation Sindoor Strikes

A new video has surfaced online claiming that Indian strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ left the family of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar devastated.

The footage, posted by security monitor OsintTV on X, shows senior JeM commander Masood Ilyas Kashmiri acknowledging the impact of the 7th May operation in Bahawalpur, Pakistan.

In the clip, JeM Commander says Azhar’s family was ‘torn apart’ after Indian forces hit their hideout on May 7, 2025. He admits the leader suffered major damage from the attack, yet withholds names and numbers.

Although casualties remain unverified, his statement has stirred heated debate across India and Pakistan. He concedes the assault caused heavy losses to the leader but refuses to share details.

Even without independent confirmation, his admission has triggered strong discussions in both India and Pakistan.

Operation Sindoor and the Strikes

‘Operation Sindoor’ was carried out in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian forces targeted militant hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Later statements from Islamabad confirmed strikes on Bahawalpur, Kotli, Muridke and six other places. Each has a history connected to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.

New Delhi has projected the operation as a major counter-terror success. The reported strike on Bahawalpur, if verified, would mark one of the strongest blows to JeM in recent years.

Questions Still Unanswered

Claims in the video continue without validation. Pakistani officials and neutral voices have yet to verify the casualty count.

The press in Pakistan reports that Masood Azhar admitted loss, yet officials have offered no endorsement.

The incident raises doubts about militant leaders living with families in such compounds, complicating collateral damage assessments. The commander’s remarks are likely to harden positions on both sides of the border.

For India, the statement strengthens claims that ‘Operation Sindoor’ struck at the heart of terror networks. For Pakistan, it raises concerns over sovereignty and the human cost of cross-border action.

Security analysts say the loss of Azhar’s family could shake morale inside JeM. At the same time, it may also fuel retaliatory rhetoric from the group.

The OsintTV video offers a rare on-record acknowledgement from within Jaish-e-Mohammad about the cost of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

While many details remain unverified, the commander’s words highlight the far-reaching consequences of the May strikes, militarily, politically and personally for one of South Asia’s most wanted terror leaders.
