Israeli Troops Launch Major Incursion Into Maroun al-Ras, Lebanon: Security Sources

According to Lebanese security sources, Israeli troops have made a significant advance into southern Lebanon, crossing into the village of Maroun al-Ras from multiple points along the Blue Line.

On Monday, approximately 50 Israeli soldiers were reported to have entered the village, backed by heavy artillery and airstrikes targeting areas along the southern Lebanese border.

The sources, who requested anonymity, revealed that Israeli forces breached the separation wall by opening iron gates, allowing dozens of tanks to gather near the borderline, supported by drones and warplanes for surveillance and defense.

The operation appears to have meticulously planned, with several Israeli units advancing towards locations such as Yaroun, Alma al-Shaab, al-Wazzani, and Kfarchouba.

In response, Hezbollah, Lebanon’s militant group, launched rocket attacks on the Israeli forces.

“The fighters of the Islamic Resistance bombed a gathering of enemy forces in Maroun al-Ras with a salvo of rockets,” Hezbollah confirmed in a statement, showcasing their resistance against the Israeli intrusion.

The Israeli military, meanwhile, confirmed the deployment of the 91st Division into southern Lebanon, marking it as a targeted and localized operation aimed at Hezbollah strongholds.

This comes after earlier ground operations involving the Paratrooper Division 98 and Armored Division 36.

As tensions between Israel and Hezbollah continue to rise, the arrival of US Central Command Commander Michael Erik Kurilla in Israel has added a diplomatic element to the conflict.

Kurilla met with Israeli military chief Herzi Halevi to assess the situation, with discussions focused on the ongoing northern front and concerns related to Iran’s influence in the region.

Since the escalation began on 23 September, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have claimed the lives of at least 2,000 people, fueling fears of a broader conflict.
