Israeli Prime Minister Admitted To Hospital In Emergency Conditions, Says Reports

According to sources, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allegedly arrived at Sheba Medical Centre on Saturday night (local time), and the process of implanting a cardiac pacemaker has already started. Netanyahu earlier posted a video to his Twitter account saying that he was feeling “excellent” and that he was following his doctors’ recommendations.

Emergency Condition

Netanyahu claims that a heart monitoring device he had installed less than a week ago when he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration beeped earlier in the evening, requiring emergency surgery to implant a pacemaker, a device that keeps the heart from beating too slowly.

In the video, Netanyahu said that his doctors had informed him that he was anticipated to be discharged from Sheba Medical Centre in Ramat Gan tomorrow (July 23) in time to participate in prospective votes on the contentious “reasonableness” measure of the coalition.

Who will be the acting Prime Minister

The law will be discussed in the Knesset tomorrow morning before moving on to its second and third (final) readings, which are anticipated for Monday or Tuesday.

Ministers conclude that Yariv Levin, the minister of justice, will function as prime minister while Netanyahu undergoes surgery. According to the sources, the ministers are approving Levin’s nomination over the phone.

Israeli Prime Minister

The Israeli Prime Minister, 72, was sent to Sheba Medical Centre last week after experiencing a dizzy episode. After claiming previously that his test results were normal and that he was feeling “very good,” his office said that he was released from the hospital on Sunday.

PM Netanyahu “completed a series of tests and is in excellent condition,” according to Dr. Amit Segev, director of cardiology at Sheba.

According to Dr. Segev’s video statement to Al Jazeera, “our diagnosis, at the end of all the examinations undertaken, including the laboratory testing, is that the reason for the hospitalisation was dehydration.
